CARPENTERS PORTABLE FRAMING SQUARE a right angle measuring tool. It is used to mark linear lines, right angles and other measurements of angles, lines, and patterns. It is portable and can fit in smaller tool boxes or be carried in a suitcase or bag. I came up with this idea and design while working as a welder, fitter with the piledrivers, divers, and bridge workers. During my time in between them and the oil field workers. After damaging a traditional framing square while traveling from worksite to worksite.
There are three main parts (1) the “L” shaped (2) the straight piece (3) the 12 inch long ruler. The “L” shaped yellow PVC plastic piece and the straight piece have a groove to accept one half of the twelve inch long ruler.
This ruler is the connector bar. Each grooved area has a ball and detent installed for a click together effect. Now you have a full sized 16″x24″ Framing Square. The ruler is made of a high grade aluminum, has cut outs for the ball and detent and is anodized. All pieces have increments of measurements in 1/16″ 1/8″ 1/4″ and 1/2″ within the one foot measurements. The main body of this square is a quarter inch thick.
The aluminum ruler has a 45 degree angle along the linear length to accommodate the grooves when assembled. The two stainless balls and detents are strategically installed in the grooves of the yellow plastic pieces.
